Dangy Sunset
As the sun goes up the whole world becomes golden. At noon it is an ocean of sparkling gold which overflows the houses and the fields. The entire landscape glistens and dazzles the eye. The sunset has its peculiar charm when the sky looks like a vast sheet of burning fire. Nightfall offers new beauties and new tunes. At night nature puts on a black gown like a lady at home. The black garment glitters with the diamonds of the stars. The moon is the biggest diamond. The voices in the night have a supernatural enchantment. The whole atmosphere is soothing and the calm and peace of the night makes people poets and philosophers.

Light in Dark
If there were no electric light bulbs, we would still want to see after it got dark, so we would use other lighting technologies. Excellent bright lighting is provided by combustion with a mantle. This technology includes gas lights, Coleman lamps using white gas, and the ALADI lamp using kerosene. All were far brighter and cheaper than candles or oil lamps. There are also acetylene lamps using gas liberated when carbide is combined with water. Coal miners used these. There is some air pollution and a danger of fire or asphyxiation or explosion with some of these technologies. If no electric bulbs were allowed, in situations where the fumes or fire danger were a particular concern, chemical based lighting like glow sticks would also be useful, and might be developed beyond what is available today. The question just excluded electric “bulbs,” so in large public venues we would still be able to use arc lights for extremely bright lights such as spotlights or lighting outdoor venues, as well as sodium lights for the footlights in theaters.

The evening walk has its own pleasure as evening time is as thrilling as morning. The heat of the summer season due to sun cools down by the evening time. People have a pleasant walk in nearby parks and gardens. In cities people after taking their dinner go out for an evening walk with their families. The entire tiredness is gone with the fragrant smell of flowers in the park, and they feel refreshed. There is good crowd in the parks.
